Thanks to this lovely woman I got to read an ARC a few weeks ago and was SO GLAD that there was more for me to read! LOL! It was no lie that I LOVED Hold Me and had wished that it was longer. This was Book Two in the Caldwell Sisters Series so, there was another story with another sister and might I say I liked Thrill Me more then I loved Hold Me!!!!!!!!

I discovered something recently. Both Aurora and I have a love of tea. Coming from Ireland, I grew up drinking five cups a day. Irish tea is some of the strongest you'll find and is best served with milk (not lemon). My parents still mail me packets of Lyons or Barry's teabags so I can keep up my caffeinated habit while living in the United States.

But what, you ask, does tea have to do with romance writing? Well, nothing, apart from the fact that this romance writer needs caffeine to create. My romantic suspense series, HOLD ME, THRILL ME, ENTICE ME, from Entangled Publishing was written with the assistance of many Irish teabags, as I typed well into the night in order to finish in time for my deadlines.

I have a twenty-two month old daughter who goes to bed around eight pm, and so my writing has to be done post-bedtime. The downside of drinking a caffeinated beverage past three pm in the afternoon and staring at a laptop screen until midnight, is that sleep is elusive.

But there's always a cup of tea waiting in the morning when I wake up, to clear out the cobwebs.

And there's always the next romance to write.

Q) What is it that most romance novels have in common?

A) A super-hot man on the cover, usually with his shirt hanging open.

In my quest for real-life subjects to cast the heroes in my series of three novellas, HOLD ME, THRILL ME, KISS ME KILL ME, I joined a gym.

Alas, no shirtless men.

"Where are all the ripped guys?" I ask.

"They all leave town," is the answer I receive.

No, no. That cannot be, I think. Perhaps I am at the wrong gym?

Soon after, fate (not a quest for hot men) leads me to another fitness establishment that specializes in cross training and jiu jitsu.

Aha! There they all are.

Literally every second man who works out there has the body of a romance cover model and more than occasionally walks around sweaty and shirtless, or does the odd, oh, fifty or so pull-ups.

Yum.

And now for my part. All my heroines are fit. I figure I'd better get in top shape if I'm going to meet Mr. Cover Model sometime. I wouldn't want to be hypocritical.

And so, in the pursuit of physical strength and fitness I write about my own semi-fictional heroes: Harrison, Adrian, and Robert, and their journey into love.

It's nice to have some actual humans to draw from, to know that while romantic heroes are fictional, they're not necessarily complete fantasy.

And if you think that's the case, you're probably going to the wrong gym!

My Good Friend Chloe Neill has a new book in my MOST FAVORITE series coming out!

I was Reading Pink is The New Blog one day ( which I LOVE!!! HI TRENT!!!!) and he was talking about a book called Some Girls Bite and it looked good, This was August 2009, so I went to my local Barnes& Nobel and picked it up. I read it in a FRENZY and it was LOVE at first Bite I'm sorry but I had to!

LET me tell you that as soon as I read this book I was HOOKED on Merit and Ethan and Catcher and Jeff! The characters had personality and they seemed like people that I would want to hand out with in person! People to throw back a beer with and have a good time!

I IMMEDIATELY Found Chloe's Blog and Twitter and Became a Follower and a Friend! I have loved all the rest of the books in the series and am SO EXCITED for Hard Bitten I cat even stand it!

If you haven't read this series do yourself a favor and DO IT!!! They are fun and they are a great read and they suck you in!!!!

I was LUCKY enough to be granted an interview with Chicago's Favorite Sentinel the other day! She is a Riot to talk to and I wanted to share my top 5 favorite questions with you all!

1. What is the one dream (like fall asleep dream) you miss having now that you sleep during the day?

Merit: I don't think my dreams have changed much since I became a vampire. It's pretty much the same dreams.
Thinking that I forgot to finish the 11th grade, rushing to finish an exam, that kind of thing. I was in grad school
when I was changed, after all.

2. What besides a Cubs Game in the day light do you miss the most?

Merit: Oooh, good question. I miss reading in the sun on the U of C campus. There's a big, grassy quad where we'd sit
outside if the weather was nice, maybe with some history or poetry. I miss that a lot. It was so *warm.*

3. If you could dress Ethan (although we all prefer him Undressed ;) ) for one day what would be his staple outfit?

Merit: Jeans, a T-shirt and flip-flops, just for the change of pace. But the T-shirt should be snug. Very snug. :)

4. Do you still miss teaching or do you think what you do now is just as rewarding?

I miss teaching. I miss hiding out in the library when Chicago is roasting in August. I miss the relief of turning in a
paper. What I do now is . . . different. It's a different kind of rewarding, where lives are at stake--literally. Important
stuff, even if it's not exactly what I thought I'd be doing.

5. Given the chance to stock the fridge at the main house for a month, what top 5 Human foods would you introduce
to your co workers?

Merit: Everything that falls into the pre-made, plastic-wrapped cake category. Twinkies. Little Debbie brownies.
Zingers. HoHos. Tastycakes. Entenmann's. And I'll give you one more hint--Mallocakes. But I've said too much! *Zips
up lips*

MALLOCAKES??? she is killing me with this teasing! That is a name that has me drooling!

Books Books BOOKS!!!

I LOVE to read... I was always that kiddo who killed all the batteries in the house reading under her covers with a flashlight. I do that now but thankfully I have a flashlight program on my blackberry so I can read in bed and not have to get up and shut the lights off when I am done ;) *lazylazylady*

I LOVE the feel of a new book. I love the smell of new books and old books! A book store is crack to me!! Well once a month or so I pack up a bunch of books I don't want and I head to the Flea Market! There is a lady there who will take the books I have and give me a dollar credit per book. I then pick out what I want from her store and I pay half the cost of the books in store credit and the other in cash! It is AMAZING! She has everything from Kids Books to Erotica to Romance to Comic Books! Now I LOVE to buy books but I REALLY have to restrain myself. The books I like are usually 12.99-15.99... ouchy! I have a Barnes&Noble Card so I get a discount (best 25 bucks I EVER spent) and I have a free borders one too but honestly if I had my way I would spend a few hundred on books a week!! I try to Buy used on Amazon.com a whole lot but books is a really bad addiction! Oye.. I SHUDDER to think what I have spent on books in the past few years! SO this woman at the flea market is a god send!
Today I bought $143.00 worth of books for $23.00 Dollars!!!! OMG I LOVE IT!!!!! My Tastes run a bit strange so I figured I would show what I bought! Now Mind you I have everything on my bookshelf from Twilight and Harry Potter to Erotica and Kevin Smith Autobiographies!!!



I have been wanting to read an Ellora'sCave Book for a while. This particular book may not be my thing but I am willing to give it a try!!!

This is a Signet Eclipse book and they usually really put out good books so I am excited to read this too! The back description makes it sound VERY good!!!

This is a book from the Aphrodesia Line from Kensington Books which is my FAVORITE Line! I own moore Aphrodesia books then I can count! I have a whole shelf that is nothing but Aphrodesia! And after this book I wont have any moore room left on the shelf which means NEW BOOK SHELF!!!!

Another Kensington Book. This is a Brava which was the early Aphrodesia. This one is Paranormal Romance so we will see.... not usually my thing but I LOVE Noelle Mack!

I got 2 of these antologies done by Red Safe Publishing. I am VERY excited to dive into them! There are 4 stories per book!!! LOVE THAT!

Julia London and Sally MacKenzie are new for me but they were suggested! I have a few Christina Skye Books and they are usually Really Fun!!! I was told she won an award for this book too!

Lisa Plumley is a new one as well but KAte Perry I have read before. I love the covers of both of these books!

I have read books by all three of these ladies and have had the pleasure of speaking to 2 of them on twitter! (@ChristieRidgeway @KatieMacAlister) And I own quite a few books from all three!! Very excited for these new ones!!!

Book Adoration- A Guest Post

I have been wondering what to write about for this guest post quite a while, ever since I signed up for the blog swap. Seeing as I didn't know who I would swap with I decided to wait till I knew and then I could write something relevant or cool or whatever. Then I found out who I was swapping with and I panicked, now I had to decide what to write and believe me I had no idea. I first thought my post should fit in with the rest of Aurora's blog, but what do I know about her life?
Then she send me her post about 10 things she's thankful for and I had a quick peek into what was important in her life. Now maybe you see this as cheating, me first reading her post before writing mine, but I think me having some insight would give me a better sense of what to write. So I started reading her list, smiling as I read all the things she were thankful for till I got to number 7.
Books! Now there is something we have in common. I absolutely looooooooove reading and no I'm not over exaggerating. Before I read Aurora's post though, I was thinking along the lines of maybe I should write something about why I love to write and believe me those two are connected. Since I was in preschool I used to love reading. We had a room at preschool that was divided into different sections and then we would rotate to get a chance to play or learn at each of these corners. My mom told me that everytime we were at the bookcorner and had to rotate I refused to leave. I don't remember that but I remember in Grade 1 when they gave us those patheticly short books to read I would finish it right then and there and get so frustrated when we had to go through is ever so sloooooooooowly. I was/is more of a bookmonster then a bookworm, reading every suitable book I could lay my hands on. When I discovered libraries there was no stopping me and after I learned my second language (English) a whole new world opened to me, with more choices of books I could read. I have read so many books, some great, some not so great, and some totally horrible, but I read them anyway. :)

In school I never really wrote anything except assignments given to me. I wrote maybe just about a dozen independent pieces, but I'd like to believe that because of my reading habit writing came easily to me. Ever since I started attending university less than five years ago, my reading got interupted, all the fantasy, science fiction, romance, mystery, thrillers and what not replaced with textbooks like Calculus and I pined. I pined to read again, every holiday that I went home and didn't have to study I would go raid the local library. Taking over almost everyone in my families library cards so I could get a fair amount of books to read. My mother always used to say I could just as well not come home, because they anyway never see or hear from me when I'm reading.

In the meantime during the semester I had this very not literature inclined course I was doing (Computer Science) and I needed an outlet so I started writing poetry, thoughts swimming in my head all day and I loved it. Now that I'm a postgrad student I have found the balance between reading non-academic related books, my writing hobby and working on my research.
So last night I thought, maybe this post should be about why I write and as I was lying there I thought how I would say it, then I remembered something I wrote a few weeks ago. A poem about my love for reading and why I write, so instead of posting a long explanation of why, I'll leave you with this poem and want to also dedicate it to Aurora knowing she would totally understand the reading books part of it.

For my love of books
i love to escape
slip away in books
written by people
other
than me
i’d lock myself in towers of fantasy
teaching myself the magic of words
reliving tales spun by weavers of imagination
